The line of products conceived by Roberto Toson, who works closely with salted cod importers and selected producers of seafood specialties, is addressed to the hospitality industry, the large-scale distribution sector and delicatessens. They use these products to create tasty traditional recipes, but also top-quality modern cuisine dishes that are very successful in Italy, especially in the coastal regions.
The mission of Bontapiù is to help countries abroad get to know and love tastes and flavours that are so appreciated here in Italy. Bontapiù addresses the various Italian communities abroad but also international clients, guarantees selected high-quality fish products with a long storage life and excels in reliability and service customisation.

Creamed cod is an ancient recipe from the fifteenth or the sixteenth century, conceived in Venice after Venetian merchant Pietro Querini, following the shipwreck of his merchant ship in the North Sea, found refuge in Rost Island, in the Lofoton archipelago, and discovered Arctic cod (Gadus Morhua), that local populations dried in the wind and in the sun.
He took a first batch to Venice, and the long-term storage life and the nutrient values won over Venetians, who created the much-loved recipe which is still essential in “cicchetti”, typical Venetian appetizers, and is the highlight of restaurant menus.
It is a salted cod pâté, made of stockfish that has been processed by breaking and pressing its fibres and then mixing them with plenty of extra-virgin olive oil.
It is suitable for shipping abroad thanks to the pasteurisation process that maintains the original flavour and creamy consistency for an enchanting and tasteful experience.
SPREADABLE OR TO BE SERVED IN SMALL PORTIONS.

Semi-finished products for our international clients are regional or national products that reveal typical Italian flavours from our coastal areas, ranging from more delicate ones, like the zucchini and prawn sauce, to more distinctive ones, like the “Sarde in saor” (fried sardines with caramelised onions, pine nuts and raisins). All of these products are based on artisanal recipes and fresh high-quality raw ingredients and can be used either to quickly and easily prepare main dishes or as tasty specialties for an aperitif.
